Information
Gold Not Old is a modpack intended to retain much of Minecraft's modern features and gameplay, but with a lot of the old gameplay feel, structures, world generation and visual aesthetic.
Features
A New-Old World
Classic-Style World Generation
Thanks to Moderner Beta, world generation has been rolled back in a couple ways:
- The "Default" world type now resembles the surface generation of release 1.7, with all the surface biomes and world height of the latest Minecraft release. This also affects the world generation for AMPLIFIED! and Large Biomes world types.
- A "Classic" world type has also been added, mimicking the terrain generation of Beta with modern biomes.
- Modern world generation is available in the "Caves & Cliffs" world type.
Old Villages, New Villagers
With the Classic Villages data pack, villages now generate in mostly the same manner as they did before the Village & Pillage update, while also including workstations to allow modern villager mechanics to function.
A New-Old Aesthetic
Old Textures, Sounds and Visuals
Using resource packs such as Golden Days Base and the Programmer Art Continuation Project, as well as mods like Animatium, Timeless and No Mob Latency, among others, visuals, sounds and gameplay feel from older versions of the game have been brought to the modern day!
Old Combat
While most of modern vanilla Minecraft's gameplay features are retained, combat stands at one of the primary gameplay changes. Combat from 1.8 has been reintroduced, though without sword blocking to facilitate using the Shield, like in vanilla.
